Punta Palascia (or Capo d'Otranto) is the most easterly point of Italy, a bridge between East and West. Furthermore it marks the point where the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea meet.

Because of its strategic position, many battles have been fought here, since the Ottoman invasion up to the Great War. Furthermore, it has been a control station during the Cold War.

Even though there is still a military presence, this place is probably one of the most suggestive in its area. Locals and tourists know it, in fact it's very common to see people coming and going every day, starting from the very early morning,

when the sun rises behind the mountains of the nearby Albania, like it's saying good morning to Italy.
